Moonstone is a variety of feldspar. It is recognised by the play of light or shimmer, which always looks different when the stone moves. The shimmer of Moonstone is caused by refracted light rays within the stone. Many cultures have attached myths to this stone and held it in great spiritual significance. Throughout history, the core themes associated with Moonstone have been its connection to the moon, fertility, femininity, and the Goddess. One of my favourite stories about this crystal is that the Romans believed Moonstone was magically created from the rays of moonlight.
