Copper is a reddish metal with a cubic crystalline structure. It is malleable, ductile, and an extremely good conductor of heat, energy and electricity.
Copper is ruled by the planet Venus. After the Sun and Moon, Venus is the brightest light in the heavens. The earliest form of Venus was the Egyptian ankh, symbol of universal life; the egg-shaped womb of the goddess, the place where life is generated. This womb, from which the sun emerges, is represented by the copper cauldron of alchemy. Alchemists associated copper with the planet Venus, so sometimes the symbol of a woman was used in art to indicate the presence of this element.
