Opal & Aquamarine set in 14ct gold (1112978)

A beautiful pendant set in 14 carat gold and measuring 0.75” in length.


Both stones are faceted with the top stone being an Aquamarine and an Australian Opal below.

The word Opal comes from various roots; Sanskrit 'Upala' meaning precious stone, Greek 'Opallios' meaning to observe color change and Latin 'Opalus' meaning seeing jewel. It has a rich history which has always admired the mesmerizing beauty it holds. There is one story of the Australian Aborigines who gave the name Rainbow Serpent to Opal and believed that "The Creator took the colors of the rainbow, and put them into stone to make opal". Through out all traditions and cultures, there are similar stories of reverence for this remarkable gem.

The name aquamarine comes from this minerals connection to water, it is derived from the latin words aqua marina meaning 'water of the sea'. It is a wonderful stone to be working with connecting you deeply to the Water element. In Feng Shui Water relates to the ability to let go, to be fluid, yielding, flexible and courageous. On the other hand, if there is an imbalance then there could be timidity and fearfulness. Aquamarine is a master at working with these subjects.
