- Lapis Lazuli Ganesh (112868)
Product Description
One of the finest, largest examples of Ganesh I have ever seen. Carved from Lapis Lazuli in India by carvers who have a long tradition of working with Ganesh. This is a museum quality piece that would enhance any home. Measures 12.5" wide by 19.5" in height by 6.5" in depth.
Not only is there a main Ganesh (measuring 9" x 6") but there are also three seated at the base and one either side (each of these measures 4" x 2.75")
The quality of the carving and attention to detail are extraordinary. The back looks like peacock wings.
It is said that we can invoke the spirit and wisdom of Ganesh by whispering in his ear and he will bestow prosperity upon us. Ganesh can also be worked with when starting a new enterprise or business or to remove obstacles for more established businesses.
Subhamoy Das writes that 'the son of Shiva and Parvati, Ganesha has an elephantine countenance with a curved trunk and big ears, and a huge pot-bellied body of a human being. He is the Lord of success and destroyer of evils and obstacles. He is also worshipped as the god of education, knowledge, wisdom and wealth. In fact, Ganesha is one of the five prime Hindu deities, Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva and Durga being the other four. Ganesha's head symbolizes the Atman or the soul, which is the ultimate supreme reality of human existence, and his human body signifies Maya or the earthly existence of human beings. The elephant head denotes wisdom and its trunk represents Om, the sound symbol of cosmic reality. In his upper right hand Ganesha holds a goad, which helps him propel mankind forward on the eternal path and remove obstacles from the way. The noose in Ganesha's left hand is a gentle implement to capture all difficulties.'
