Working with Kunzite

Kunzite is the pink variety of spodumene. It is a fairly young gem in terms of geology, and has only known for the past one hundred years or so. Discoverd by a New York jeweller and gemstone specialist George Frederick Kunz (1856 – 1932), he became the first person to give a comprehensive description of this stone, which had just been discovered in California hence its name Kunzite after "Kunz". Its pinkish hue comes from trace amounts of manganese. A very uplifting stone that encourages inner peace, love and joie de vivre or the joy of living.
