A sublime carving measuring 3.25" wide by 3.5". The attention to detail is exquisite on both the front and back. The Buddha sits between two pillars and the Jade itself is a deep rich green.
Buddha is the father of Buddhism whose name means "awakened one" or "enlightened one". He was a real living prince Sidhartha Gautama who after leaving the palace to meet his people came across old age, sickness and death and finally an ascetic. It was these experiences that led him on his path to enlightenment by trying to understand how to overcome such suffering. Today Buddha is the embodiment of love, compassion and understanding, generally his figure is revered as a hypostasis or spiritual emanation of Buddha himself and used for reverence and to connect to his energy.
