Orange Calcite Ho Min Buddha (112065)

An outstanding piece of carving. A Ho Min Buddha carved from a single piece of Orange Calcite. Measures 27" in height by 14" wide and 11" deep.

The Ho Min Buddha in folklore is admired for his jovial attitude, plenitude, and wisdom of contentment. One belief popular in folklore maintains that rubbing his belly brings wealth, good luck, and prosperity. His figure appears throughout Chinese culture as a representation of both contentment and abundance. He is almost always shown smiling or laughing, hence his nickname in Chinese, the Laughing Buddha.
